Yaung Chih-Liang hopes LY passes the 2nd Generation NHI bill in the extraordinary legislative session (2010/07/10)
Reported by Chen Li-Ting from Taipei
Yaung Chih-Liang, the DOH Minister, said today that he hopes the Legislative Yuan could pass the 2nd Generation NHI bill in the extraordinary legislative session so as to pave the way to its implementation in 2012. Failing to bring the 2nd Generation NHI into practice, it will be the poor's lost.
The society is very concerned about whether the legislature will pass the 2nd Generation NHI Bill. Yaung Chih-Liang said in an interview that the DOH is now working towards it, hoping to push the bill through the legislature in the extraordinary session so that it could take effect in 2012.
Yaung said that by charging the rich a little bit more, the new NHI bill brings social justice into the system.
As for the issue about hospitals' outsourcing of core businesses, Yaung Chih-Liang condemned outsourcing for impairing the healthcare quality and efficiency. Therefore, the DOH will put this issue on the top of the agenda for the second half of this year, and try to solve the problem by increasing recruitment and enforcing the share of sources among DOH hospitals.
Yaung said that the next step is to straighten up the outsourcing problems in private hospitals. In the meantime, hospitals should let the public know if there are any outsourcing services.
