Industry urges the government to remove investment barriers (2010/07/26)
Reported by Hsieh Jun-Wei from Taipei
To encourage inward investment the CEPD invites industry representatives to collectively work out a strategy. Liu Yi-Ru, Chairman of the CEPD, expressed that many industries in Taiwan have great competitive advantages; but, the government has to try to remove investment barriers to help encourage investment.

Liu made the above remarks in yesterday's preparation meeting of the committee of campaigning for international investment in Taiwan.
Liu Yi-Ru pointed out that the first wave plan will be a joint work by the government and the private sector. The government needs the industries' practical suggestions. Twenty-two industry representatives attended the meeting. They mentioned that Taiwan has many competitive industries; but, the government should demonstrate ambition and determination to remove investment barriers to encourage global investors to file applications for inward investments.
The CEPD will decide which industries are to be included in the first wave of actions. The committee of campaigning for international investment in Taiwan is to have committee meetings on the 9th and 12th of August. Group discussions will be held for the industries of tourism, culture and creativity, bio-medicine, green energy, intelligent industry, urban and technology park development, finance and businesses, etc.
