NHI global budget for 2019 amounts to over NT$700 billion

The National Health Insurance global budget growth rate is set between 2.5% and 4.5% as approved by Executive Yuan. According to the conclusions reached in the global budget discussion for 2019, the total amount of the new budget is NT$ 713.9 billion, which is up by 4.2% compared to NT$685 billion allocated for this year. Of the global budget, NT$490.9 billion is earmarked for hospitals at a growth rate of 4.4%; NT$139.2 billion is earmarked for Clinics at a growth rate of 4%; NT$45 billion is earmarked for dentistry at a growth rate of 3.4%; NT$25.9 billion is earmarked for Chinese Medicine at a growth rate of 4.4%; and NT$12.8 billion is earmarked for other expenditures under the authorization of National Health Insurance Administration.

In addition, NT$3.07 billion is allocated for new medical technologies with the aim of introducing new medical services, new special materials and new drugs, and reducing the burden of patients.
