NHI to cover immunotherapy drugs

Reported by Wei I-chia from Taipei

Immunotherapy has gained attention in Taiwan since the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2018 was awarded for the discovery of checkpoint inhibitors for cancer therapy. Following the inclusion of immunotherapy drugs for melanoma in the National Health Insurance reimbursement scheme in August this year, National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) will discuss the payments for immunotherapy drugs for lung cancer, lymphoma and head and neck cancers at the meeting of Pharmaceutical Benefit and Reimbursement Scheme Joint Committee (PBRS) in this month.
