3.29 million individuals NHI premiums to be revised following the hike in the monthly minimum wage

With effect from January 1, 2019, the monthly minimum wage will be increased from NT$22,000 to NT$23,100. According to the newly revised National Health Insurance (NHI) payroll brackets, the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) estimated that 120,000 individuals would see a NT$13 reduction in their monthly premium payment while 3.17 million individuals’ monthly premium would see a rise by NT$4 to NT$57. Overall, such revisions will bring an extra revenue of NT$2.6 billion per year to the NHI.
