The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare has ordered the recall of “Prevan Film-Coated Tablets 80mg” and “Prevan Film-Coated Tablets 160mg” – high blood pressure medication produced by Genovate Biotechnology Co. – after the TFDA’s sampling inspection indicated a positive result of carcinogenic substance.

The TFDA pointed out that the inspected products were produced with a raw material imported from Mylan Laboratories Limited, an Indian pharmaceutical company. The raw material was found to be tainted by a carcinogenic substance N-Nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA). Genovate recalled the two drugs aforementioned that will expire on July 30, 2022 and November 4, 2019 respectively after the order of TFDA.
