The 2018 Taiwan Healthcare Expo kicked off on the 29th.  President Tsai attended the opening ceremony and expressed that Taiwan has the advantages of state-of-the-art healthcare technology, robust supply chains and sufficient manufacturing capacities which will make Taiwan a strong base for developing healthcare technology in Asia.

The 2018 Taiwan Healthcare Expo had attracted many foreign media, 35 international healthcare technology companies and big pharmaceutical companies from over 20 countries.  Most of the heads of relevant government agencies also attended the opening ceremony.

Wang Jing-Ping, the founder of the IBMI, expressed that, in the past 20 years, the development of the biotechnology industry in Taiwan has been on the right track by following the government’s blueprint.  Ko Wen-Je, Mayor of Taipei City, said that most of local talents work in the medical and IT industries in Taiwan; therefore, the integration of the two industries will provide a new opportunity for Taiwan.

Su Chia-Chyuan, the Minister of the Legislative Yuan, expressed that Taiwan is well-known for the NHI system, medical technique and medical technology.  By combining these advantages with the R&D and manufacturing capacities and abundant human resources, the future of healthcare-related fields is full of possibilities.

Dr Chen Shih-Chung, the MOHW Minister, pointed out that there are 1358 exhibition booths in this year’s Healthcare Expo, about 30% more than last year.  Companies used to work alone in the international competition arena.  Now they are forming cross-industry alliances and developing innovative medical concepts and technology.  The Healthcare Expo is a good showcase for the capacities and abilities of the biotech-related industries in Taiwan.
