Vice President meets with Nobel Foundation Chairman Carl-Henrik Heldin, underscores Taiwan biomedical sciences development potential

Vice President Chen Chien-jen on April 1 met with Nobel Foundation Chairman Carl-Henrik Heldin and said that he hopes to build bridges for dialogue and cooperation through international symposiums, in order to raise awareness of Taiwan’s advantage in biomedical sciences development among experts and academics abroad, and to provide Taiwan and the global community more opportunities for exchanges in the fields of medicine and biotechnology.

The Vice President pointed that to improve Taiwan’s economic structure and environment, the government has been driving the 5+2 Industrial Innovation Plan, which includes biomedicine as a crucial component.

Regarding the biomedicine industry, key tasks include establishing the necessary infrastructure and strengthening the regulatory framework, the Vice President explained.
