Minister without Portfolio Wu Tsung-tsong led Taiwan’s delegation of 200 representatives from businesses, government and academia to this year’s BIO International Convention taking place between June 3 and 6 in Philadelphia, earning the distinction of being the 10th largest delegation at the international event.

This year’s event attracted participants from 67 countries and gathered more than 16,000 pharmaceutical experts and 7,000 biotechnology experts. During the event, Taiwan’s prowess in biotechnology industry will be showcased at the Taiwan Pavilion where over 400 business matching sessions will be held to create opportunities for global collaboration and to tap into new prospects.

Since the commencement of the government’s Biomedical Industry Innovation Program in 2017, Taiwan’s hard work in the field has been acknowledged in the globally recognized Biopharmaceutical Competitiveness & Investment (BCI) Survey, which found that Taiwan ranked second among all emerging markets behind Singapore.

This year, the Taiwan Pavilion will showcase and promote precision medicine, digital healthcare and customized healthcare solutions to attract further global technical collaboration and garner press coverage. Exhibitors at this year’s event include new drug developers, contract development and manufacturing organizations, agricultural biotechnology, precision medicine and smart medicine, who are ready to show the fruits of Taiwan’s research and capabilities to the world.
