2019/06/14

Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) President Jim Greenwood said that the Bio Asia exhibition, which is taking place in Taipei for the first time, represents the reaching of a new milestone in Asia’s biotechnology sector. Due to Taiwan’s position as an established global hub for information and computer technology, Taiwan is poised to play a unique role in upcoming revolutionary advancements in the biotechnology sector that must integrate artificial intelligence and big data applications. In addition, Taiwan has solid experience from holding the locally organized BIO Taiwan annual exhibition in the past 16 years. With this solid foundation, the partnership between the Taiwan Bio-Industry Organization and BIO in organizing the BIO Asia-Taiwan exhibition would go a long way in propelling Asia’s biotechnology sector to a new height.

Minister without Portfolio Wu Tsung-tsong, who led Taiwan’s delegation to the BIO Annual International Convention in Philadelphia, said that the hosting of the Bio Asia-Taiwan would greatly enhance the connection between Taiwan’s biotechnology development capacities with the global markets, as well as showcasing Taiwan’s capabilities in new drug development, diagnostics, medical devices as well as precision medicine to attract more international business opportunities.

Apart from the exhibition, BIO Asia-Taiwan also includes a conference gathering nearly 70 international speakers on topics including cross-border financing, cross-industry investments, strategic alliances and mergers, regional collaborations, as well as breakthrough technologies including immunotherapy, cell therapy, CAR-T, gene therapy, regenerative medicine as well as game-changing technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, Internet of Things, gene sequencing, gene editing, and liquid biopsy.

BIO Asia-Taiwan’s organizers said that registration has been going briskly and reminded prospective attendees to take advantage of the early bird discount, which is ending soon on June 22.
