First Taiwan-U.S. jointly organized Bio Asia-Taiwan International Conference to kick off July 24

The Bio Asia-Taiwan International Conference, the flagship biotechnology event of Asia, is set to commence on July 24 and feature 600 companies, 1,700 exhibition booths, forums with representatives from 25 countries, and 18 country pavilions, marking a record high for the event.

The participation of global pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and medical centers is also another highlight of the event, including Chugai Pharma Taiwan, General Electric, Roche, Merck Taiwan, IQVIA, MSD, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, BD, Edwards and other leading multinational corporations; medical centers include Cathay General Hospital, Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taipei Medical University Hospital, National Defense Medical Center, Chung Shan Hospital, China Medical University Hospital, Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation and other leading medical centers.

The conference includes a forum of 80 international speakers, including Harvard Medical School Professor of Medicine Jeffery Karp, who has been named as one of the world’s leading innovators by the MIT Technology Review. Professor Karp is slated to speak on the topic “Towards Accelerated Medical Innovation” and share his many years of insight in the field of developing innovative medical technologies. Silicon Valley Bank Head of Life Science & Healthcare Relationship Banking Katherine Andersen is slated to share the latest trends on life science investments, while speakers from Amazon, NVIDIA and the Taipei Medical University will discuss technology topics including artificial intelligence and big data.

In addition, this year’s event also features speakers from the National Institute of Health, Harvard Medical School, MIT, Academia Sinica, Development Center for Biotechnology, and the event has since garnered more than 1,000 registered attendees for its forum and business matching sessions, over 30 percent of whom are from abroad.

Apart from the exhibition and forums, this year’s event also features seminars on cell therapy, immunotherapy, precision medicine and other breakthrough technologies, as well as global trends in pancreatic cancer treatments and the prospects of the Greater China healthcare markets amid the global trade war, with speakers from the Chinese Society of Immunology, Taiwan Oncology Society, Taiwan Pancreas Society, Taiwan Association for Cell Therapy, Taiwan Precision Medicine Society and the China Healthcare General Association.
