The 2019 BIO Asia-Taiwan Exhibition took place in Taipei between July 25 and 28.  This exhibition, jointly organized by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and the Taiwan Bio-Industry Organization (Taiwan Bio), is to showcase the results of the development of the biotech industry under the guidance of the government.

Booth 134 exhibits the developments of the biotech industry in Taiwan, including the 2019 biotech industry white paper, the government’s strategies and measures for promoting the biotech industry, the government’s guidance results, etc.

According to the MOEA’s data, the total investment in the biotech industry was NT$55.264 billion in 2018.  In order to support the industry’s innovative R&D activities, the MOEA has been actively promoting the formation of industrial clusters and linking them together to create a biomedical corridor.  The corridor links the new drug and new medical device R&D centers in Taipei, the biopharmaceutical and in vitro diagnostics center in Hsinchu, the medical device R&D and drug manufacturing center in Taichung, the API and implantable medical device center in Southern Taiwan and the functional foods and veterinary vaccine center in Pingtong.  Also, the MOEA has been promoting Taiwan’s R&D achievements and the high quality human resources to international companies, hoping to attract foreign investment into Taiwan, facilitating international cooperation, opening up international markets and making Taiwan the biotech R&D center in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to the exhibition of the government’s policies and achievements, the event also showcases individual manufacturers’ R&D results, including the VR rehabilitation system developed by the NSH Medical Corp, medical devices developed by Tzy Shenq Co., Pre-filled syringe system developed by NangKuang Co., etc.
